Bacon Vodka Étude: The End

And so our little bacon vodka fermentation adventure has come to a close. The conclusion? As suspected: Delicious.

Theres actually not much to really report on though. Actually drinking the stuff ended up being less interesting then anticipated. I took pictures anyway so here's a brief description of how thing played out:

I arrived late to our event so I don't have any pictures of the bacon fat actually being extracted and removed from the solution. Its a shame I know but we'll just have to make due. All that was left by the time I got there was a giant vat (bowl) of the chemical we had spent three weeks editing. Looks like normal vodka to me.

Splash.

We would use two methods to taste the stuff. First off was the implied single shot each.

I like to think I look like Adrian Brody in this picture.

It was decent I suppose. Just like taking down regular shots but with a bacon after taste. Josh and Colin seemed to really enjoy it though. Next up was the clamato juice. Our hope was that the out come would carry a taste reminiscent of a BLT. We had no intention of lending lettuce to our alcohol though.

I have to say this stuff made for a pretty damn good Cesar. Good job team! However next time I do this (I wanna try apple cinnamon, Colin wants to do cherry) I think ill pay a few more dollars for the actual alcohol. A cording to a very helpful man I spoke to at one of our local liquor commissions, smother vodka would have carried the flavor further. He also pointed out that most schnapps have the fruits and flavors added to them far before the stuff is even drinkable . However he also stated that the method we used worked too and would probably carry a higher, "fresher" flavor in the end.

Maybe ill make wine next.

One more thing:

Even Dan.
